‘New scholar and his eight-year journey to PhD,’ Adesile speaks on his academic milestone, shares tips for prospective PhD students

A Nigerian mediapreneur, Oluwatosin Adesile, has officially bagged Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in communication.

Platforms Africa reports that Adesile successfully defended his PhD thesis in print/new journalism before the panel of assessors at University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka.

The eight-year journey to PhD by the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Sparklight News was climaxed with a research wotk, titled: ‘COVID-19 AND CHANGES IN THE OPERATIONAL PRACTICE OF JOURNALISM IN NIGERIA,’ jointly supervised by Professor Oloruntola Sunday and Associate Prof. Tayo Popoola.

Overwhelmed with joy on his feat, the new scholar expressed gratitude to God for the success of the academic milestone.

Saying in a statement he sent to Platforms Africa that the journey took eight years to complete, Adesile charged “people aspiring to register for a PhD or those currently on the programme in Public Universities not to give up. It will be worth it at the end.”

He wrote; “My experience in the last 8 years has been a remarkable one. I have been able to learn a lot studying various news organisation operational practice with recommendations on how to improve operations.

“My message is for people aspiring to register for a PhD or those currently on the programme in Public Universities not to give up.it will be worth it at the end.

“I thank God for enabling me to complete without incidence.”
